Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev won his first title for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The Russian, a former number one, has had a torrid year, winning just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Now collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the past month - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's initial title following the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface from that period of the previous year.

Victory also indicates he has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my children simultaneously, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his past six championship matches, comprising in Halle in the past months.

His counter-punching approach and recurring reactions on the playing surface had prompted observers to question if his skill to play at the top level was finished.

Yet the player has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play positively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the last five points to gain the advantage.

The pair swapped breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional title, took control to push for a decider.

Moutet defended 4 initial chances in a competitive third set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured the win with a shot at the net area, with his opponent incapable to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
